THE KIMBAP: KOREAN FOOD

It's pretty pricey to get things of foreign aspects in Kuching. It is therefore expensive to cater it to the masses. It is a fact that most korean restaurants in Kuching is expensive but yet people still flock to it.

There is however a new restaurant in Titanium area. Right before Sukah, with a cute heading above it's eatery. It is called Kimbap. as it's name suggests, yes, it does serve kimbap as well as other korean delicacy.

The interior is well furnished with a cafe feel too it. The restaurant doesn't serve main meals like barbecue, it serves simple dishes that is street food like kimchi pancake and spicy sticky rice cake, ddeokbokki or it's commonly known, marinated fried chicken and that is exactly what we ordered for our lunch that day.

Ddeokbokki, with a slice of cheese on that top. I never had the real thing from the streets of Korea, but nether less I had tried it several times in other situations to know what it is suppose to taste like. It is sweet and spicy, with the glutinous rice cake chewy and warm to my tastebuds. The amount was enough for all of us, even though it is a side dish.

We also had the pancake with kimchi, crispy not to oily and savoury. I like dipping mine with the soy sauce which is I think mixed with vinegar.

There was the japchae next, delicious as well. I've made japchae enough times to know that every kind is different, depending on the chef's taste. This one isn't sweet as I'm used to but it is still good. The noodles al dente, the vegetables that go along with it, seasoned well.

There was the kimbap, which was the best I think out of all the food we had. The rice was well done, not to mushy and just right, with the ingredients inside like pickled radish carrots and beef well seasoned and taste well together. The thing about this sort of simple dishes is that if you jut seasoned it well enough, it beats any hard recipes out there.

They gave us our meals fairly fast and it was good service though the side dishes like kimchi and beans weren't very big portions. Also you can't have a refill unless you want to pay the extra price. But this restaurant is by far the cheapest in all the korean restaurants in Kuching and well worth the price too.
