PROJECT BURGER: BURGER EPISODES

Lately, burger stands and burger stalls have been the in-thing here in Kuching besides the local hipster cafes. They can be found in food trucks stationed at different areas, by the roadsides, stalls in kopitiams and so on. Sometimes, burger vendors sell them from their own home; and today, we’ll be adventuring to a burger place called ‘Project Burger’ located in a neighbourhood, where burgers are served to you at their home.

In a corner house located in a neighbourhood opposite Giant, Stutong, this interesting place features a home-like setting which includes plastic tables and chairs being set up at the free area in their garage. Their menu and banner hangs just next to their cooking area, which is also where customers would place their orders. You could also notice their home made burger buns, which is one of their specialties here, being placed outside, ready to be used with their patties. These home made buns are brioche, freshly made and prepared for the night’s servings.

Here, they serve beef and pork patties, as you can see from their menu and banner.

You could also see that their menu is pretty interesting, with items you won’t usually see in menus at other burger stalls, such as honey mirin bacon, which was their homemade mirin cured bacon, nutella ice cream and herbed fries. Recently, they added more items on their menu as well.

We ordered pork burger and this regular burger was already packed with onions and cheddar cheese in them without any add-ons. Here’s what’s inside their regular burger.

The brioche buns were so fragrant, with a slight crispy layer and soft inside. It went very well together with their succulent and juicy pork patty. These patties were all equal in size and each of their patties are actually weighed out during preparation, so you would not have to worry about getting that one patty with the lesser gram of meat when eating with your makan buddies. They were also generous on their honey mustard, adding that nice tangy sweet flavour into your burger.

Overall, it was definitely one good quality burger, which was worth the price. I look forward to try their other unusual items as well, and not to mention their beef patties too. Come try Project Burger for yourself, perfect when you’re in the mood for some burger supper as well.

Project Burger opens from Monday to Friday, from 6pm to 11pm and can be contacted at 016 2086009.
