ABSOLUTE MELACCA: CHICKEN RICE

Absolute Melacca, a newly opened place in Kuching, famous for its rice balls have been a huge hit to many Kuchingites since opening. It's also something different compared to our style of chicken rice, which is what we normally have here in Kuching. Chicken rice balls originated from Melaka, where they made a variation out of the original Hainanese chicken rice. Steamed rice is shaped into golf ball sized portions and served with steamed chicken.
Also something else from Melaka which is the satay celup, is also sold here at Absolute Melacca and is a favourite for many during the night.

Today, The Makan Post will be adventuring to this famous hit, Absolute Melacca to try their delicious rice balls.

Absolute Melacca is located at the corner of a shoplot just opposite the famous IT commercial centre called One TJ. It's quite easy to spot with their signboard on the top, and glass panels which made those hanging steamed and roasted chickens a not to miss sight as you pass by.

The place was fully air-conditioned, with a modern like setting. The tables had pots and boilers in the middle. That would be for the satay celup which would be only sold during the night.

They have a variety of rice ball selections to choose from, and there are combos where you could get chicken curry, egg and vegetables to go along with your rice balls. Sides such as beansprouts and tofu were also available. Today, we will just be having the classic, steamed chicken served with rice balls.

They were served beautifully in a traditional serving basket plate. Each rice balls costs RM0.30, and you could order as much as you want to go with your chicken. The chicken and rice were drenched in a good amount of sauce, which made it very aromatic and each bite was flavourful. The rice was soft and fluffy, and it was savoury and delicious, I could just eat them alone.
The chicken was soft and glistening on the top layer and a jelly like texture could be seen just under the skin as well. This is a sure thing to look out for when eating chicken rice.

Another important component of chicken rice, the chilli sauce.
Small containers of chicken rice chilli sauce were placed at each table, so you could take as much as you like. Their chilli sauce was spicy enough, give you the kick you need whenever having chicken rice, had a good amount of ginger and garlic essence to it, had the right amount of saltiness all completed with a fragrant lime tanginess. Good news for chicken rice chilli lovers, you will love this one.

Eaten altogether, was a sure pleasure to the tastebuds.

Come try this wonderful delicacy at Absolute Melacca, a definite not to miss!
